On Gear Live: 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Review

Depending on how you look at it, two networks shared last night’s crown.  CBS may have grabbed the viewers, but ABC had it where it counts: the demos.

8pm
Private Practice

9pm

  • Despite mixed review, (12.42 million, 4.9/13 share) took the hour’s demos with ease.
  • At 14.55 million, CBS’ (3.9/10) won the night in viewers.
  • (10.28 million, 3.9/10) continued its losing race against Practice.
  • (6.37 million, 3.0/8) was up from last week’s numbers.
  • (1.3/3 share) rounded off the hour with 2.8 million viewers.

10pm

  • (4.1/11 in 18-49, 13.43m) pounded the competitors with 13.43 million viewers.
  • ABC’s (8.64 million, 3.3/9) was down slightly from last week as was (8.1 million, 2.7/8).

ANTM

Back at home after Kimberly’s ousting, Victoria wrestled with her emotions about the competition in general.  Unlike her roommates, the college nerd didn’t spend her whole life dreaming about modeling.  Only recently did she realize this was something she wanted.  Meanwhile, Saleisha made it known that she would never be seen in the Bottom Two like Bianca (who was still shaken up by the last judge’s panel).

The next day the girls arrived at the Ken Paves (a.k.a ‘I’m Jessica Simpson’s BFF’) Salon for their highly-anticipated makeovers.  This has come to be my favorite part of the ANTM season.  It’s the time when untapped vanity rears its ugly head.  Some gal will eventually start crying because she doesn’t feel like the prettiest thang in high-school anymore.  But, as always, most are grateful for their improvements.

Beauty & the Geek Season 4It’s three episodes into the fourth season of The CW’s (my guilty pleasure) and we have lost two very likable teams: Tony and Amanda and Hollie and Josh. And it sucked to say goodbye to such good personalities – Tony, the lovable Asian, and Hollie, the adorable Betty Boop impersonator. Adding to the sting is that fact that the players who keep winning (i.e. Will, his tramp Rebecca and man-beauty Sam) are the least likable of all. I suppose every show needs a villain.

We enter this week’s episode with the continuation of a blossoming romance between Sam (the man-beauty who was 1/2 of this season’s “twist”) and Rebecca. Stupid Sam invited his airheaded crush to join him on the top bunk for some hanky-panky, knowing full-well that his partner Nicole (the girl-geek “twist”) was in the bunk below. The ensuing awkward situation upset the fragile Nicole who had even offered to shack up elsewhere if he ever needed the room. Nicole then distanced herself from Sam so as to avoid confronting him about it. Sam dopily discussed feeling bad about it in a confessional.

Read the rest of the recap and find out which geek tricked his/her partner after the jump.

ABC’s Cavemen may have seen decent ratings last week, but it appears the experiment’s novelty may have just worn out.  Meanwhile, House scored another ratings victory for FOX (followed by NBC, ABC, CBS and CW)

8pm
Cavemen

  • (16.1 million, 3.4/10 in 18-49) won both the hour in viewers and demos.
  • (8.3 million, 3.1/9) gained 430,000 viewers coming in second.
  • ABC’s (2.5/8 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall) lost about 20% of the premiere’s audience; (7.4 million, 2.8/8) was also down, but improved on its lead-in.
  • NBC’s (2.1/6 in 18-49) started off the hour with 6.7 million viewers; (6.6 million, 2.7/7 in 18-49) carried them from there.
  • (3.2 million, 1.5/4) brought an additional 500,000 viewers to the CW.

9pm

  • (17.7 million, 7.3 rating/18 share in adults 18-49) ruled the whole evening with the viewers and demos.
  • ABC’s (16 million, 4.0/10 share) pulled in second.

  • (11 million, 2.8/8 in 18-49, 11.0 million viewers overall) held steady for second place.

It’s unclear how some of these programs would have fared without stiff competition from Monday Night Football and the Yankees/Indians game.  Regardless, it’s not surprising that to report that ABC easily danced away with another ratings victory (followed by CBS, NBC, FOX and CW).

8pm
Chuck

9pm

  • (10.7 million, 5.0/11) was down 24% from its premiere but still pulled the hour’s win in the 18-49 age group.
  • CBS’s (13 million, 4.4/10) lost 400,000 fans; (10.7 million, 3.8/9) gained 200,000.
  • (5.4 million, 2.0/5) remained steady with last week.

Gossip GirlStrong word-of-mouth has earned CW newbie, Gossip Girl, a full-season order.  The Josh Schwartz () series is a perfect replacement for those who loved his last production,   The show stars (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) as Serena van der Woodsen, a girl who returns to her vicious private school after mysteriously leaving town.  plays Blair Waldorf, Serena’s former best friend and current frenemy.

The catty series has so far proven to be a much darker version of our typical teenage dramas (imagine The O.C. plus Heathers).  And with voyeuristic narration supplied by the anonymous ‘gossip girl’, things get to be so much cattier.

For those who have not yet watched the series, it’s not too late.  The first two episodes are currently hot iTunes downloads.  Once you get yourself caught up, you can find on Wednesdays @ 9pm on The CW.  I promise you—the backstabbing here is much more exciting than that / battle.  Plus - you’ll come to learn valuable fashion lessons.  Had I not watched last week, how would I have known that blue eyeshadow was back?

Although the introduction of ‘Seinfeld Vision’ helped the premiere of 30 Rock, it didn’t do do much for the network.  CBS took Must See Thursday—followed by ABC, NBC, FOX and CW.

8pm
30 Rock

9pm

  • Although (20.8 million, 6.3/16 in key demo) lost 16% of last week’s viewers, it still took the crown from Grey’s.
